The Lincoln Navigator is luxury-priced for good reasons: boasting a stunning array of convenience features, advanced high-tech and safety systems, and a comfortable, roomy interior. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade is a worthy competitor in the large-size luxury SUV class. Still, its powerful engine and robust truck-based design aren’t enough to make it the Navigator’s equal. It falls a bit short in the areas of interior design, advanced high-tech, and safety, especially on the lower trims.

Interior Features

Interior Design

The Lincoln Navigator will appeal to all who climb aboard, and that favorable impression starts with the interior design. The cabin is roomy, and there’s plenty of storage in the rear when the third-row seats are folded. Push-button start, comfortable leather seating, and an easy-to-navigate control panel are the highlights. The uplevel trims come with a panoramic sunroof, and the front seats are heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable. The grab handles are well-placed, the second-row outboard seats feature the tip-and-slide function, and the circulation is fantastic thanks to the tri-zone climate control. The driver pedals are highly adjustable, and the steering column has a truly great tilt/telescopic function. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade is huge on the outside, but the interior gets a bit cramped, something of a disappointment in such a large vehicle. The headroom is a bit tight, and third-row passengers will feel a bit of a squeeze.

Technology Features

High-Tech Features

The 2020 Lincoln Navigator base trim comes with a 10-inch screen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto app integration, and a 14-speaker sound system. The Reserve trim adds on adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking camera. A 20-speaker stereo system is available on the Reserve trim. The infotainment system’s graphics are of great quality, with crisp visuals and easy-to-use virtual buttons. The infotainment system also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade has an excellent stereo system with good sound quality, but the included navigation system is years behind. The infotainment stack has a gloss finish that reflects light in an annoying manner, and fingerprint marks are all too visible. Adaptive cruise control isn’t available on the lower trims.

Safety Features

Standard Safety Equipment

Every 2020 Lincoln Navigator comes with the Co-Pilot360 suite of driver aids. These include forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The Cadillac Escalade base trim doesn’t come with a full set of driver aids. The buyer must step up to the Luxury trim to get the Driver Awareness package containing blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist. The advanced collision mitigation system that includes forward and reverse emergency braking is only offered on the Premium Luxury and Platinum trims.
