Both 2021 the Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Explorer offer two different powertrains. The Nautilus base engine is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder rated at 250 horsepower. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine produces 335 horsepower and is offered on all but the base trim. The Ford Explorer base trim gets a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder rated at 300 horsepower, and there’s an available turbocharged 32.0L V6 that pumps out 400 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

Lincoln models are known for their upgraded materials, comfortable ride, and high-tech innovation. The 2021 Nautilus is luxuriously appointed on the interior, with big front seats that boast an incredible amount of adjustability. The forward controls are laid out functionally. The XLT adds on heated front seats, second-row captain’s chairs, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The uplevel trims feature a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable second-row seats, and full leather upholstery.

Every Lincoln Nautilus comes equipped with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, USB ports, a digital signal processor, voice-activated radio, and the Sync infotainment interface. The base trim has a 10-speaker audio system, and the Reserve trim has such upgrades as twin front-row LCD monitors, a 13-speaker stereo system, and SiriusXM. All trims come with a complete safety suite that includes forward-collision warning with automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The 2021 Ford Explorer base trim has an 8-inch screen display, an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, and smartphone app integration. The uplevel trims add on second-row USB ports, a wireless charging pad, a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, and a navigation system with voice control. Every Explorer comes with lane-keeping assist, frontal collision mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring. The Limited and above trims have a 360-degree top-down, surround-view parking camera.
